Mid-range travelers (€90-130/day) can stay in comfortable boutique hotels, eat well, and take taxis or Uber comfortably. Sintra day trip by train (€4.60 return from Rossio) is an outstanding day out. Intercity trains to Porto (2h45, from €15-25 booked ahead) are comfortable and scenic.
