Abu Dhabi weather & best time to visit

Climate Overview

Abu Dhabi experiences a hot desert climate with extreme summer temperatures and mild winters. From June to August, daytime highs regularly exceed 45°C (113°F), with humidity levels around 70–80% that make the heat feel even more intense. Winter months (December to February) are far more pleasant, with temperatures ranging from 15–25°C (59–77°F) and lower humidity, making outdoor exploration comfortable. Spring and autumn serve as transitional seasons but can still be quite warm.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal time to visit Abu Dhabi is November through March, when temperatures are coolest and humidity is manageable. December and January are peak season, with hotels charging premium rates—expect room prices from 400–800 AED ($110–220 USD) per night, rising during the New Year holidays. If you're budget-conscious, visit in late October or early April for similar weather at lower prices, typically 250–450 AED per night. Winter visitors can comfortably explore the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, wander the corniche, and visit the Emirates Palace without excessive heat.

Seasonal Breakdown

Summer (June–September) sees many locals leave Abu Dhabi; most attractions remain open, but expect heat exhaustion risks and reduced activity. Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) offer good middle ground—still warm but increasingly comfortable, with fewer crowds and moderate accommodation prices. If you visit during summer, budget activities indoors: air-conditioned museums, shopping malls, and water parks are your best bets.
