Germany has a temperate oceanic climate. Winters (December–February) are cold, averaging 0–5°C across most of the country, with snow in Bavaria and the Alps. Summers (June–August) are warm and pleasant at 22–26°C, though heat waves have become more common.
Spring (April–May) and early autumn (September–October) are ideal for travel. The Rhine and Moselle valleys are particularly beautiful in autumn. German summers rarely see the extreme heat of southern Europe, making it a comfortable warm-weather destination.
