Portugal enjoys one of Europe's most pleasant climates. Lisbon averages 290 days of sunshine per year. Summers (June–September) are warm and dry at 26–30°C, ideal for beach holidays. Winters (December–February) are mild at 12–16°C with some rain — still comfortable by northern European standards.
Porto is slightly wetter and cooler than Lisbon. The Algarve has the sunniest, warmest climate in the country — beach season runs April–October. The interior Alentejo reaches 40°C+ in July–August. Spring (March–May) is beautiful with wildflowers and mild temperatures throughout.
