Tokyo has four distinct seasons. Spring (late March–April) brings cherry blossoms to Ueno Park, Shinjuku Gyoen, and along the Meguro River — book accommodation 3+ months ahead. Summer (June–August) is hot (28–33°C) and humid, with a rainy season in June and typhoon risk in August-September.
Autumn (October–November) brings spectacular foliage in temple gardens and parks — a second peak season. Winter (December–February) is cold (5–10°C) but clear and sunny, with excellent seasonal illuminations. Snow is rare in central Tokyo but Nikko and Hakone nearby get snow from December.
