Paris has a temperate oceanic climate. Winters (December–February) are grey and cool (4–8°C) with occasional frost but rarely snow. Spring (March–May) is beautiful — mild temperatures (10–18°C) and the city at its most romantic. Summer (June–August) can be hot (25–30°C) and many Parisians leave the city in August — a surprisingly good time to visit with fewer locals but more tourists.
Autumn (September–October) is excellent: warm, dry, and the city returns to full cultural life. The best months are May, June, September, and October. Christmas markets run late November through December and the city is beautifully lit.
