4 Days in Paris: The Essential Guide

Four days in Paris is just enough to fall in love with the city — and understand why everyone keeps coming back.

Day 1 — The Icons

Start at the Eiffel Tower (book timed entry online). Walk to Champ de Mars for the obligatory photo. Afternoon: cruise the Seine. Evening: Montmartre and Sacre-Coeur at sunset — magic.

Day 2 — The Louvre & Marais

The Louvre will take half a day minimum — decide in advance what you want to see (Mona Lisa, Winged Victory, Venus de Milo). Afternoon in Le Marais: falafel on Rue des Rosiers, the Picasso Museum, Place des Vosges. Evening: bistro dinner and wine.

Day 3 — Versailles

Take the RER C to the Palace of Versailles (45 mins). Spend the morning in the palace and the Hall of Mirrors. Afternoon in the gardens and the Grand Trianon. Return to Paris for an Eiffel Tower dinner view.

Day 4 — Latin Quarter & Seine Left Bank

Notre-Dame (exterior reconstruction ongoing). Shakespeare and Company bookshop. Walk along the Seine bookstalls. Afternoon: Luxembourg Gardens. Saint-Germain-des-Prés cafes. Last croissant at a neighbourhood boulangerie.
