Greece is a classic Mediterranean climate destination. Athens and the islands enjoy long, hot, dry summers (30–35°C in July–August) and mild winters (10–15°C). The main tourist season is May–October, with peak crowds and prices July–August.
Spring (April–May) and early autumn (September–October) offer the most pleasant conditions: warm enough for swimming, far fewer crowds, and lower prices. The Meltemi wind in the Aegean (July–August) can cool things down but also disrupts ferry schedules. The north of Greece (Macedonia, Epirus) experiences cooler, wetter winters.
