Beyond the Center
Take the S3 train to Hallein's salt mines (Hallein Salzburg, €18), where you can actually slide down a 64-meter wooden chute worn smooth by centuries of use. Back in town, visit St. Sebastian Cemetery—peaceful, photogenic, and free. Budget 2–3 days minimum; the city card (€29/72 hours) covers most museums and public transport, making it a solid investment if you're thorough.
